- Eye (Göz): This motif is included in Anatolian kilims with the purpose of protection against the evil eye.
- Tree of Life ( Hayat Ağacı ) : The Tree of Life symbolizes the continuity of life and the cycles of nature. It often represents the connection between the earth through its roots and the heavens through its branches, embodying human life, family, and the unity of the universe.
- Waterway ( Su Yolu ) : This motif is included in Anatolian carpets to symbolize the continuity of life, wisdom, and physical and spiritual purification.
- This piece is inspired by one of the most famous models in Turkish carpet weaving, the Yağcıbedir carpets. Woven in the later periods of Turkish carpet craftsmanship, I believe it was created by a nomad, likely a Yörük. In original Yağcıbedir rugs, you will not find the rose motif in the background. This suggests that a Yörük weaver, gathering motifs from various regions of Anatolia, sought to create a unique design of their own, blending tradition with personal artistic expression.
- Sındırgı, located in the Balıkesir province of Turkey, is known for its rich history and traditional handicrafts, especially its carpets and kilims. The region's carpets are typically woven with high-quality wool and feature intricate geometric and floral patterns. Sındırgı carpets are renowned for their durability and vibrant colors. They reflect the cultural heritage of the area, blending craftsmanship with regional traditions. Sındırgı's local economy is largely supported by carpet weaving and agriculture.
